The Trustees and staff of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic and untimely death of Dr Jeroen Ensink on 29 December 2015.

Jeroen was a Senior Lecturer in Public Health Engineering at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; he was also a committed and accomplished reviewer of scholarly articles on water and sanitation for the RSTMH journals Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene and International Health and we remain indebted to him for his tireless service over many years.

We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to Jeroen's wife, daughter and wider family and to his many colleagues and collaborators across the world.

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine has established the Jeroen Ensink Memorial Fund, which will be used to support MSc scholarships for students from sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Donations can be made online or by cheque to the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine - see here for further details on contributing to the Fund.
