Lisa King

Lisa King is a medical student at Newcastle University Medical School in the UK. She wanted to become a RSTMH ambassador as during her time at university she has been lucky enough to experience incredibly interesting placements in infectious disease and tropical medicine and wants to help provide teaching and experience to other students that are interested in the fields and who may not have been fortunate enough to be allocated to them at medical school.

It is for this reason that Lisa and some fellow students founded The Newcastle University Society for Infectious Diseases: a society for students who have an interest in infection specialities.  She has just returned to her final year of medical school after completing an intercalation year where she achieved a distinction in a Masters of Research in Epidemiology, carrying out a project using phylogenetics to explore HIV molecular epidemiology in Newcastle. She hopes, in the future, to become an infectious disease doctor and live and work across the world.
