Dr Margaret Baker
Dr. Baker is an associate professor in the Department of Global Health at Georgetown University in the USA. She was born and grew up in Lima, Peru, the daughter of Scottish parents. She researches how to increase access to infectious disease programs, with a focus on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). She takes an implementation science approach, using multidisciplinary approaches, and her research is driven by a desire to improve health for historically marginalized populations. Dr. Baker teaches courses at the master's and bachelor's level and is the Director of the Department of Global Health's signature experiential learning course which places students abroad and in the USA for a semester. Dr. Baker is on the International Health Journal and PLoS NTD editorial boards and regularly acts as a peer reviewer for multiple journals. She also continues to stay actively engaged with global health practice by serving on the board of trustees for Helen Keller Intl and regularly consults for organizations including the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and USAID.
