Diane Yirgnur Some is a PhD student at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. She is affiliated with the Clinical Research Unit of Nanoro (CRUN) where her research is focused on malaria diagnostic. Diane's thesis work focuses on malaria diagnostic algorithm that combines two-band RDTs with a novel molecular diagnostic tool, the db-PCR-NALFIA (direct-on-blood-PCR-Nucleic Acid lateral flow immunoassays), currently under evaluation. The main interest of her work addresses the challenge of diagnosing ‘undetermined’ patients (hrp2 positive and pLDH negative patients on two-band RDT), for whom accurate tools are essential to differentiate between true and false positives results. Prior to her PhD, Diane worked as a laboratory technician in a clinic providing care for people living with HIV before joining the CRUN
