Dr John Moore-Gillon
Consultant Physician Emeritus, St Bartholomew’s Hospital
Dr John Moore-Gillon saw his first patient with tuberculosis when he was a medical student exactly 50 years ago, at which time standard treatment was just reducing from 18 months, and the consultants had trained and practised in the pre-chemotherapy era. John later became Lead Clinician of the Tower Hamlets Tuberculosis Service, Chair of the British Thoracic Society TB Specialist Advisory Group, Chair of the DH Service Delivery Group for England, and involved in the development of BTS and later NICE TB guidelines. He describes himself as “Yesterday’s Man” in TB terms but keeps an eye on the present and the future.
