Dr Laura Barbieri

Dr Laura Barbieri, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), based in Japan at Osaka Metropolitan University. While training as a laboratory immunologist during her PhD, she developed an interest in global health, fieldwork, and interdisciplinary studies. Currently, Laura’s research focuses on the immunological as well as socio-economic aspects of malaria in western Kenya. She is working at the interface between the laboratory and the field, often travelling from Japan to Kenya to support the fieldwork activities.  

Laura is also involved in promoting responsible research internationalization with The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT).
