Dr Ahmad Suleiman Idris

Dr Ahmad Suleiman Idris is a Field Epidemiologist, a PhD Public Health student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University and an Abbott Pandemic Defence Coalition Fellow in Nigeria. His research focuses on post-mortem diagnosis of Lassa fever, dengue fever, and malaria through microbiological sample collection and testing. Lassa fever and dengue fever have been rarely reported in this area prior to his research. He was able to diagnose 3 cases of Lassa fever, 1 case of dengue fever, and 91 cases of malaria-associated deaths. Suleiman is particularly interested in researching infectious and vaccine-preventable diseases. Prior to his PhD, he worked on projects related to cholera, hepatitis B, and COVID-19.
