Grant Partners 2024

We are delighted to announce our partners for the 2024 Early Career Grants Programme.

As in previous years, we are pleased that partners have provided support for our grants programme to enable us to fund as many early career researchers and professionals as possible.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), with UK International Development from the UK government, are funding 239 Early Career Grant Awardees in 2024. Awardees are based in, and carrying out projects in, low- and middle-income countries, and projects involve minimal laboratory-based work.

The Global Health Research programme is proud of our continuing partnership with the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene on their Early Career Grants programme.

“Securing that first research grant is an important catalyst for early career researchers, enabling them to develop the skills they need to tackle global health challenges.

“This scheme is a key strand of NIHR’s work to develop career pathways in global health research and we are pleased to support this opportunity.”

Professor Kara Hanson, Programme Director for NIHR Global Health Research

The Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF)

Across RSTMH’s 2023 and 2024 cohorts, The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) are funding 69 Early Career Grants. Awarded projects align with the priorities of CIFF’s ARISE-NTDs programme: Lymphatic filariasis; Guinea worm disease; Soil-transmitted Helminthiases; Trachoma; Leishmaniasis; Onchocerciasis; Schistosomiasis.

Ending neglected tropical diseases is one of our core missions at CIFF, as we look to create a healthy, fair and safe world for children.

"We won’t end NTDs without innovations in research – and for that, we need researchers. We’re excited to see how this support for early career researchers may, in the long-term, lead to breakthroughs which transform the lives of those at risk from NTDs.”

Kebede Kassaye, CIFF’s NTD Director for Africa

The International Alliance for the Control of Scabies (IACS)

The International Alliance for the Control of Scabies (IACS) are supporting 2 Early Career Grants in 2024, on the topic of scabies.

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’s (LSHTM) Research Consortium for School Health and Nutrition

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’s (LSHTM) Research Consortium for School Health and Nutrition are funding 2 Early Career Grants in 2024, focusing on projects that look at education and nutrition.

We are delighted to partner with RSTMH to support two talented early-career researchers in advancing research on school health and nutrition. Young people are at the heart of our vision to improve access to quality school-based health services worldwide, making their contributions not only valuable but essential.

“School-age children remain vastly underrepresented in global health research, and this collaboration is a meaningful step towards strengthening the evidence base and better understanding their needs.”

Professor Donald Bundy, Director of the Research Consortium for School Health and Nutrition
