Dr Hamidou Maiga

Dr Hamidou Maiga is a Medical Entomologist at the Institute de Recherche en Sciences de la Sante, Direction Regionale de l’Ouest (IRSS-DRO), Bobo-Dioulasso, in Burkina Faso. His research work focuses on male mosquito mating and swarming biology, mass-rearing, irradiation, quality control, release, trapping and monitoring in the field in the perspective of the development of genetic strategies to complement the tool box against human vector diseases such as malaria but also dengue and other neglected tropical disease vectors. 

Dr Maiga had an international career as a Medical Entomologist where he built a strong network and experience on the development and deployment of the sterile insect technique. He has published/co-authored numerous papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals (Google Scholar:https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Z8B2xHAAAAAJ&hl=en). He is fully dedicated to mentoring young scientists and is known for his supportive and encouraging approach to training the next generation of researchers.
