Professor Olayinka Oladiran Adegbehingbe

Professor Olayinka Oladiran Adegbehingbe is a Nigerian Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, Former, Acting Chief Medical Director, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile Ife, President, Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of Nigeria and first black African member of Medical Advisory Board of Ponseti International Association, USA.  After graduating in Medicine at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, he completed his residency in Orthopaedics and Trauma at the teaching hospitals. His clinical practice is in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Oncology. He is actively involved in research on the Clubfoot treatment, Trauma, and Radiation Effects & Environmental Factors in cancer.

He co-ordinated the first Ponseti International Clubfoot Workshop in West Africa and translated manual “Clubfoot: Ponseti Management” to Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa languages for use in Nigeria. He co-ordinates the Nigerian and  African Ponseti Clubfoot Projects/African Clubfoot Study Group. 

In addition to all of this, Dr. Adegbehingbe has taught the Ponseti Clubfoot Casting technique in Nigeria, Cameroun, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, and Somalia leading to development of their sustainable national clubfoot treatment programs. He has spoken in many national and international meetings. He has supervised post=graduate research projects on cancer, clubfoot and designed educational and graphic artwork on Ponseti Clubfoot Treatment. Through him, Nigeria became the first country globally that produced and adopted  national clinical guidelines on clubfoot treatment. He pioneered  Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of Nigeria. Professor Adegbehingbe’s translational researches on Garcinia Kola resulted in the patented Bioifedyn  capsule for Knee Osteoarthritis treatment produced by CTC Bio America. He was awarded the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons International Surgical Skill Scholarship with clinical observership (Trauma) at  Mayo Clinic, Rochester USA (2010) and  AAOS Emerging International Leadership Award, 2021. He has added two terminologies into medical encyclopedias -Ophthofall and Exposed Bone Syndrome.
