Carlos A Fernandez-Miñope

Carlos is a PhD student of Medical Sciences at the Antwerp Doctoral School but has spent the last 5 years working as a Research Associate at the Instituto de Medicina Tropical Alexander von Humboldt, Peru.

His research applies methods such as NGS sequencing and high-throughput bioinformatics for the molecular surveillance of antimalarial drug resistance. Misinformation and pseudoscience must be challenged and as a PhD student, he has a strong commitment to this.

Carlos became an RSTMH Student Ambassador to build a stronger network and continue to work —this time with the RSTMH— to share knowledge and positively impact society.
