Ashton Hall
Ashton Hall
Ashton Hall is currently in his fourth and final year of medical school in the United States.
He previously studied at Kent State University (AS, Science), Miami University (BA, Microbiology), and LSHTM (MSc, Medical Microbiology). He will obtain his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in May 2025.
Ashton recently applied for residency in internal medicine (3-year duration). He hopes to apply for the new Infectious Diseases / Epidemic Intelligence Service (ID/EIS) fellowship program through the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This program grants fellows 2 years of clinical infectious diseases training followed by 2 years of outbreak investigations in the United States or abroad.
Ashton has been a Student Ambassador for RSTMH since 2020 to help raise public awareness of the disparity in clinical outcomes between the developed and developing worlds. Because neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) primarily impact remote communities, they are often out of sight and therefore out of the minds of many government officials, philanthropists, and physicians in the developed world. As a result, NTDs have become an issue that has not received an appropriate amount of attention or funding, which has led to perpetuating poverty and stigma in these vulnerable populations.
