Dr Folorunso Fasina
Dr Folorunso Fasina is a Nigerian veterinarian who has spent a significant part of his working life in parts of Africa. He is well-travelled within and outside Africa. He previously worked at the Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) as Country Team Leader in Kenya and Tanzania. He used to be a Professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Currently, he works as the One Health Intelligence and Early Warning Expert with FAO in Rome Italy.
He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and two PhDs in molecular and classical epidemiology from the Universitiy of Pretoria, the University of Utrecht, and the Netherlands Universities focusing respectively on transboundary and zoonotic diseases. His areas of interests include: Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Health Economics, and Disease Ecology and Modelling using One Health approach. Mr Fasina has worked for over 20 years exploring zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance and epidemiologic basis of transboundary animal diseases in Africa, and has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers.
