Gaurav Verma

Gaurav Verma is the RSTMH Student Ambassador studying at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences-KIIT Deemed to be University Sciences, Bhubaneswar, India. He is a Medical Microbiologist and currently doing Doctorate of Philosophy in Medical Microbiology. He is currently doing research in Antimicrobial Resistance. He is highly motivated to understand infectious diseases from a One Health, Antimicrobial Resistance and Eco Health perspective. He has a strong interest in the relationship between biodiversity with humans and their health, and how we can modify this to prevent future threats to the entire system in which we all live.

His achievements so far include receiving many national awards and publishing few scientific articles in reputed journals and starting to dip his toes in the vast ocean of research as well as academia. He is also a member, life member and professional member of many scientific and research societies.

Joining as a student ambassador, he aimed to integrate into a group of professionals interested in tropical medicine and global health. His motivation lies in exchanging viewpoints and experiences with the varied members of RSTMH, initiating discussions on the key challenges in tropical medicine.
