Gilbert Baayenda

Gilbert Baayenda is a distinguished public health professional with 22 years of experience, currently serving as the Senior Trachoma Advisor at the Fred Hollows Foundation. His expertise lies in managing Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), a field where he has made substantial contributions internationally, particularly in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and the Pacific. Gilbert is a PhD fellow, and also a certified NTD program manager, skilled in critical areas like Trachoma, Schistosomiasis, Malaria, and WASH interventions. His achievements include receiving the Young Achievers Award in Uganda in 2009. In addition to his professional roles, he is an active academic contributor, with his research on topics such as Trachoma epidemiology and cross-border healthcare collaborations published in peer-reviewed journals. Gilbert’s blend of practical experience and academic involvement makes him a prominent figure in global public health efforts, particularly in combating NTDs.
