Michaela Bikárová
Michaela Bikarova recently finished her MSc in Medical Parasitology and Entomology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In her MSc dissertation, she investigated the microbiota of Anopheles midguts, as she recognises its significant potential for future advancements in malaria vector control. Michaela is currently employed at LSHTM as a student demonstrator, where she assists with teaching during the laboratory practicals while being open for future possibilities.
Prior to her postgraduate studies, she graduated with bachelor’s degree from Swansea University and was employed at a biotechnology start-up. There she researched the potential utilisation of the entomopathogenic fungi as a biological control against mosquito larvae, aiming to mitigate the adverse environmental impacts of conventional chemical methods such as insecticides.
