2024 Early Career Grants Programme opens for applications
The 2024 RSTMH Early Career Grants Programme is now open for applications. The Programme provides more than 200 grants every year to those early in their careers to carry out their first piece of research into tropical medicine or global health.
It encourages and supports the next generation of tropical medicine and global health professionals growing their skills and networks, improving confidence and enabling the development and dissemination of interesting and innovative outcomes in tropical medicine and global health.
Early career researchers and global health professionals based anywhere in the world, who have not had research funding in their own name before, can apply for a grant of up to £5,000 (GBP) to deliver a project within one year.
The projects can be on any topic related to tropical medicine and global health, from across the research spectrum of lab, translation, implementation, and policy.
This year we are delighted to announce that due to support from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) with UK International Development from the UK government, JCPET and IACS we will be able to provide at least 230 awards. NIHR will support early career researchers in LMICs to undertake applied scientific research or fieldwork in global health.
IACS will support applications on the topic of scabies, and JCPET on the topic of One Health. Other funding partners will be announced over the coming weeks. RSTMH will support the highest scoring applications that do not meet the criteria of our donor partners.
“We are delighted to launch our 2024 Early Career Grants Programme building on the success of the past few years. Since 2018 more than 600 early career professionals have had the opportunity to deliver their first research project and take an important step in their career.
“We hope to see applications on all areas of tropical medicine and global health and would encourage anyone who is eligible for the Programme and has an interesting idea and problem to solve to consider applying. There are many global health issues that need addressing and we need as many great minds from around the world focused on them.”
