Isaac A Oyekola

Dr. Isaac Oyekola was educated at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology where he obtained his Ph.D. His doctoral research work entitled, ‘Social support and health care financing for the elderly in Ibadan, Nigeria’ was supported by the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) 2022 Early Career Grant in partnership with the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), United Kingdom. His research interests lie within social change and development studies, reliable health care financing, healthy ageing, reduced inequalities, social welfare and justice, informal and public sectors. His research is motivated by a desire to provide social support for the vulnerable elderly in order to ensure healthy ageing for the increasing proportion of the elderly in Nigeria, and reduce inequalities in the society. Isaac is committed to conducting rigorous and innovative research that contributes to knowledge creation and has real-world impact. He has served in various academic and leadership positions within and outside the University environment, published a good number of reputable publications, and received some awards, grant and sponsorships. Isaac is a member of national and international organisations, and has participated in national and international conferences. Currently, Isaac is a Researcher/Lecturer at Achievers University, Owo. He is also a servant in the House of God.
