Michelle Yap

Dr Michelle Yap is the senior lecturer and toxinologist at Monash University. She is dedicated to research in molecular pharmacology of toxins and snakebites. She has experience and skills in molecular pharmacology, immunology, and proteomics of venoms. Her research now investigates the molecular pharmacology of venom toxins that cause local tissue necrosis in snakebites. Her research works have been featured in prominent media, including The Star and International Snakebite Awareness Day campaign. She is involved in the public consultation for WHO Target product profiles for the treatment of snakebite envenoming South Asia. Her ultimate goal is to develop safe, effective, and affordable biotherapeutics to mitigate snakebites as neglected tropical diseases.
