Peter Odion Ubuane

Dr. Peter Odion Ubuane is a Fellow of the Faculty of Paediatrics of the West African College of Physicians (FWACPaed). He currently works as Consultant Paediatrician/Neonatologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and as an Associate Lecturer with the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. His research focus is the epidemiology and contextualised evidence-based management of early-life respiratory morbidities, their prenatal, perinatal and postnatal determinants, and their long-term evolution and outcomes. Specifically, he is currently conducting research on the epidemiology of prematurity-associated respiratory morbidity among Nigerian infants; association between household air pollution and childhood asthma; short- and longterm outcomes among asphyxiated neonates (‘compromised first breathe’); and the association of maternal metabolic disorders with pregnancy/neonatal outcomes. He had his medical education at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State and residency training in Paediatrics at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria.
