Professor Alan Fenwick
Alan Fenwick is an Emeritus Professor at Imperial College London. His career covers 4 periods of his working life. First, 5 years of productive field research based in Tanzania. Second 17 years based in Sudan conducting research and control of schistosomiasis and malaria. Third 14 years in Egypt as a chief of party implementing USAID funded research and World Bank funded control of schistosomiasis. Finally at Imperial College from 2002 through 2017 he directed a charity which delivered over 200 million treatments with praziquantel in 16 countries. During his lifetime he received numerous awards including both the MacKay medal and the Sir Rickard Christopher medal from RSTMH. Others included the OBE, the Queens Anniversary Prize, Chevalier Gold Medals from both Burkina Faso and Niger , and a medal in recognition of his achievements for the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial college .
