Professor Liz Corbett

I am a Clinical Epidemiologist with specialty training in infectious diseases and have been with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, funded on successive Wellcome Trust Fellowships from 1996 to 2020, living in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

My research has focused on undiagnosed infectious HIV and TB, first showing the extremely high burden in African cities and then designing and testing intervention strategies. My results have fed through to rapid policy change for both TB (active case-finding/systematic screening) and HIV (HIV self-testing), reflecting a close working relationship with TB and HIV Departments of WHO. I have over 250 publications, several scientific prizes and am a Fellow of the Medical Academy of Sciences and Royal College of Physicians.  My research students - including Rashida Ferrand - have established themselves as leaders in their own fields.
