Professor Hesham M Al-Mekhlafi
Hesham Al-Mekhlafi received his BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Science from Sana’a University (Yemen), MSc in Medical Parasitology from the National University of Malaysia, and Master in Applied Statistics (2012) and PhD in Public Health (2009) from the University of Malaya (Malaysia).
Hesham’s research focuses on the epidemiology and control of malaria and neglected tropical diseases, including soil-transmitted helminthiasis, schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis as well as other protozoan and helminth parasites. This led him to lead research projects in Malaysia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and many other countries.
He is a reviewer for many international journals, including being an Associate Editor for the Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
