RSTMH Presidents' Fund winners announced
The winners of this year’s Presidents' Fund, which supports potential RSTMH members and Fellows from low- and low-middle income countries by paying awardees’ annual membership subscription for three years, have been announced.
We are pleased to announce the recipients of this year's Presidents' Fund. The fund gives the opportunity to individuals, who may otherwise not be able to afford RSTMH membership, to benefit from the advantages that it has to offer.
We look forward to welcoming our five new members and supporting them in their global health and tropical medicine careers."

Zinia T. Nujum
Dr. Zinia T. Nujum is an epidemiologist and public health professional engaging in teaching and research on neglected tropical diseases in Kerala, India. She works as Additional Professor, Community Medicine, Government Medical College, currently on deputation to the School of Public Health, Kerala University of Health Sciences.
Poverty anywhere is a threat to prosperity everywhere. As a public health professional, I’ve focused on battling preventable diseases that disproportionately impact the poor, stealing precious lives. Addressing this global challenge requires us to work beyond borders and embrace the interconnectedness of One Health. The profound work of RSTMH in this area has been a source of inspiration. I see this award as an opportunity to engage with the RSTMH team in the fight against neglected tropical diseases and poverty. I am eager to further my professional growth, foster community engagement, and, most importantly, inspire the next generation of passionate minds to join this journey towards a healthier and more equitable world."
Khandakar Fatema
Khandakar Fatema, a Research Associate at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, holds an MBBS, an MPH, and a Master's in Applied Statistics and Data Science. She is working on a cohort baseline study and projects on intersectionality and health. Her research includes mental health in leprosy-affected individuals and preventive behaviours in multi-ethnic communities. Fatema aims to advance public health through her work.
I am honored to receive the 2024 RSTMH Presidents' Fund award and to join the RSTMH community. This recognition is a valuable step in my journey to advance global health, and I look forward to contributing alongside fellow members. Shalom Adedeji
Shalom Adedeji is a registered nurse with the Lagos State Health Service Commission stationed in Isolo General Hospital. She is passionate about health policymaking and innovation. She aims to promote sustainable conversations through research.
I am very excited that I was chosen as one of the award recipients of the reputable RSTMH Presidents’ Fund. As an early career professional, I know that this award will allow me to learn from experts in the field of global health. Also, I will be able to network with individuals using research to make a positive change in the field of global health. I can't wait to start engaging with all the benefits this award will offer me while contributing my quota to the growth of the organisation."
Angi Mohamed
Angi Mohamed is a dedicated Executive PA and Public Health Specialist at the Association of Public Health Research and Development-Epidemiological Laboratory (Epi-Lab). With an MPH from ARU, Angi is passionate about advocating for health equity and addressing gender-related health disparities. Her current work centers on improving access to healthcare in resource-limited settings.
I am deeply honored to receive the RSTMH Presidents’ Fund award. As a public health professional from Sudan, a country currently facing significant challenges, this recognition is a beacon of hope. I am eager to contribute to RSTMH's mission of improving global health, particularly in neglected tropical diseases. Through active participation in the society, I hope to connect with like-minded peers, share knowledge, and collaborate on innovative solutions to address health inequities."
Emmanuel Adamolekun
Emmanuel Adamolekun is a dedicated research assistant at Helix Biogen Research Institute, focusing on vaccine development for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) using immunoinformatics, while also serving as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Akure. His commitment to public health, combined with leadership in community-based HIV prevention and global health campaigns, highlights his drive to improve health outcomes for underserved populations.
I am excited to win the RSTMH Presidents' Fund as it is a vital opportunity to advance my research on vaccine development for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). It would provide me the platform needed to accelerate my work, publish findings, and foster collaborations with experts in tropical medicine. Ultimately, the Fund would enable me to contribute meaningfully to global health by tackling diseases that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations."
