World AIDS Day: Article Collection
AIDS is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by HIV. Over 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS related illnesses globally, making it one of the most devastating pandemics in history. Although there have been major scientific advances in HIV treatment, there is currently no cure for the virus.
World AIDS Day has been taking place each year on 1 December since 1988, making it the first ever global health day. It is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
To mark World AIDS Day 2022, we have compiled this collection of recent articles on HIV and AIDS related research, from our journals Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and International Health.
