World NTD Day 2025: Article Collection

23 Jan 2025

Credit: Michelle Stanton Caption: Lake Albert, Uganda during a schistosomiasis survey. Snails were being sampled in the lake, which can be seen to be covered in water hyacinth. All 30 children surveyed in the nearby school tested positive for schistosomiasis despite regular treatment with partiquantel, highlighting the difficulties in reducing the burden of this disease.

This Thursday is World NTD Day (30 January 2025), a global day that aims to raise the profile NTDs, highlight the suffering they cause to the estimated 1.5 billion people affected by them, and to garner support for their control, elimination or eradication, in line with the programmatic targets set out in the NTD road map 2021-2030.

The theme of this year is 'Unite. Act. Eliminate.' which calls on governments, the public and the global health community to join the global NTD community, foster commitment, resources and guidance, and to work together to end NTDs.

As a proud partner of World NTD Day, we here at RSTMH have put together a collection of papers from our two journals Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene and International Health on NTDs. The below articles have been made freely available for a month.
